Tamar Schwarz is an Israeli director, screenwriter, and cinematographer, and a graduate of the Steve Tisch School of Film and Television at Tel Aviv University.
As a writer-director, her short film “Dear Tarantino” (2025), a female action-comedy, selected for the International Competition at the Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival. Her short film “Season 21” (2023), won Best Student Film at the Rome International Film Festival, was an Official Selection at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival, and screened at TISFF. She also directed “Cry Already” (2024), supported by Tel Aviv University’s War-time Open Call, currently screening at ARFF Berlin and New York Indie Shorts Awards.
As a cinematographer, Tamar shot “The Father, The Daughter and the Hostage” (2025), directed by Itamar Kasirer, which premiered at TISFF and won Best Thriller at Indie Short Fest in Los Angeles. She was also the cinematographer of “We Have Sinned Before You” (2023), which won Audience Favorite at Manhattan Short Film Festival and received a Cinematography Honorable Mention at the Arizona Women’s Film Festival. She served as DP for “Children of Dawn” (2023–2024), a documentary web series nominated for the Israeli Academy Award for Best Web Series. Tamar also directed and co-shot the documentary feature “Who Cares?” (2025), produced by Deutsch & Co., and created the opening commercial spot for the Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival.
Alongside her film work, she has directed and shot numerous commercials for major brands, music videos, and live sessions. Her work is defined by a strong visual sensibility, stylized cinematography, genre influences, black comedy, and sharp female characters.
